Tool guide
The GST Calculator is an essential tool for business owners, freelancers, and consumers who need to quickly calculate GST-inclusive or GST-exclusive prices. It handles the complex reverse-math of tax extraction instantly.
Whether you are generating an invoice, verifying a bill, or setting prices for your products, this tool ensures accuracy and saves you from manually calculating tax formulas.
Adding and removing GST use two different formulas. Use the first when you have a net price, and the second when you have a GST-inclusive total.
Add GST:GST = Amount × Rate ÷ 100
Remove GST:Base = Total ÷ (1 + Rate ÷ 100)
Example: adding 10% GST to a $100 net price gives $10 GST and a $110 total. Reversing it, a $110 GST-inclusive total at 10% breaks down to a $100 base and $10 GST. The remove-GST math is not simply 10% of the total, which is why the reverse formula matters.
GST and equivalent value-added tax rates vary by country. Enter any custom rate in the tool, or use this table as a quick reference for standard rates.
| Country | Standard rate | Tax name |
|---|---|---|
| Australia | 10% | GST |
| India | 5% / 12% / 18% / 28% | GST (slab-based) |
| New Zealand | 15% | GST |
| Canada | 5% (plus provincial) | GST / HST |
| Singapore | 9% | GST |
| United Kingdom | 20% | VAT |
